Head Hunger Is Giving Me Fits

I don't know what my problem has been this week but Head Hunger is really causing me alot of anxiety this week.  I have been trying to figure out what is causing me to do this.  So far I haven't been able to figure it out.  I have been doing so good about not thinking about food that "immediate gratification" of eating something so tasty... but not good for me.
I keep my hobbies close... my books close... and pick them up frequently.
My eating is usually out of seeking soothing, comfort or out of boredom.  I don't believe I am needing or feeling any of these.
Nine weeks out of my lap RNY and I feel like I could regress but I am trying to stay strong.
Anyone else have this problem?  Any advice or suggestions would be great to hear.
Blessings to you all, Leah

It sounds like you are doing all the right things by keeping busy work close by and most importantly you are taking the time to think about the "why".

Unfortunately, what worked for me was giving in to the eating and then promptly throwing up.  Not a good method.   Take a walk, call a friend, or jump on the board and post.

Best wishes.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.

Leah,

When I was early out I chomped on sf popcycles all the time. I even melted one to see how many oz of liquid it was (1.5). I really was missing the crunching I think. I found that I couldn't sit though. If I was reading or doing crafts, etc, I'd still want to munch so I'd get up and get busy in the kitchen or something. I also made sure I chose healthy snacks...like Fiber One cereal (dry, like popcorn...1 cup is 28 g of fiber..you need 30 g). So...look over your nutrients..and see what you can afford to add to. For me, it was the fiber..maybe you are lacking in veggies (carrots? celery?).

I totally get it.  I struggle too.  It is not surprising that we want what we want, our habits are the hardest thing to change.  Hang in there.

Hi Leah,

Sorry I can't be too much help to you, as I am still preop.    I think the head hunger thing will be the hardest obstacle to overcome.  Like someone else said though, you can get on here and post away!  All you OH buddies are here for ya!

Take care girl!

I hear ya. If you've read my accountability thread lately you've seen that I've been snacky lately. Fortunately, I dump, so I can't terribly overdo the bad stuff, but it's just the idea that I let it sneak in sometimes that just irritates the fire out of me. I keep water with me constantly and that seems to help quite a bit.

I like to watch a movie in the evening to relax, and that's a problem sometimes. Again, it's fortunate that I dump and that my pouch is small, I just can't eat too much of something sweet or very much of anything, so that's saving me. I'm just irritated at my lack of self control these past few days.

Hang in there!
